NPC Art
Last night I decided it's time to work on adding some self-moving NPCs (Non-Player Characters) that are more than just a tech demo.
To that end, the first I'm working on is the ever-popular slime monster. I couldn't find any artwork of a high enough resolution and the right usage rights, so I decided to try drawing something in Inkscape. I used this as a reference, to get the shape right. I've never made a serious attempt to draw any kind of monster before.
I'd love to hear some honest opinions and/or suggestions on how I could make it better.
The left side is meant to be the ground-based frame and the one on the right is for when it's mid-jump/fall. For the final version, I'll be making the whole thing 80% opaque, to give it that semi-transparent look.
This art is under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, by the way.
Once I've got this slime NPC working to my satisfaction, I'm planning to work on adding a Goblin or possibly an Orc, based on LPC art.
